❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if my Excel file has blank rows or cells?
A: The system automatically skips blank rows, but an error will be shown if the URL field is empty. It's recommended to clean up your data before uploading.

Q: For A4 paper in portrait orientation, how many QR codes are recommended per row?
A: It is recommended not to exceed 5. If the QR codes are too small, they may be difficult to scan. We suggest the QR code size should be no smaller than 1.5cm x 1.5cm, as smaller sizes can affect scannability.

Q: Can I customize the color of the QR codes?
A: Currently, only black and white QR codes are supported to ensure optimal scanning compatibility.

Q: Can I hide the text below the QR code?
A: Yes, you can uncheck "Show text below QR Code" in the layout settings to display only the QR code.

Q: What is the purpose of the border?
A: The border helps with cutting and alignment, especially useful when creating stickers or labels.

Q: Does the URL have to include http://?
A: Yes, the full protocol (http:// or https://) must be included, otherwise the QR code may not open correctly after scanning.

Q: Are URL shortening services supported?
A: Yes, any valid URL format can be converted, including short URLs from services like bit.ly, tinyurl, etc.

Q: Can I use Google Forms links?
A: Yes, links from various Google services like Google Forms, Google Drive, and YouTube are supported.

Q: Are links to LINE Official Accounts or Facebook Pages supported?
A: Yes, links to various social media platforms, including LINE, Facebook, Instagram, etc., are supported.

Q: Why does it sometimes crash?
A: This is usually due to a large file size or too many data entries. Depending on your computer or tablet's performance, it's recommended to process in batches, trying not to exceed 500 entries at a time.

Q: What should I do if the generated QR code won't scan?
A: Please check the following:
1. Is the URL format correct?
2. Is the QR code size too small?
3. Is the print quality clear?
4. Is your phone's scanning app working correctly? Try scanning other QR codes.

Q: What are the limitations of the link checking feature? Why can't it detect some broken links?

A: Due to browser security restrictions, our link checking feature has the following limitations:

Cases that can be detected:
  • Domain does not exist or DNS resolution fails
  • Connection timeout (no response within 5 seconds)
Cases that cannot be detected:
  • Server errors (e.g., 500, 502, 503)
  • Page not found but server is responsive (e.g., 404 error)
  • Pages requiring login or authentication
  • Links blocked by certain firewalls or security settings
Why these limitations?
This is because we use front-end technology for detection, which is subject to the browser's cross-origin security policies. While not 100% accurate, it can help you quickly filter out most problematic links.

It is recommended to manually check a sample of the links that pass the check. Important links should always be tested manually.
If you find a discrepancy between the detection result and the actual situation, this is normal.

We choose not to provide a back-end detection feature to prevent the connection checking function from being used for illicit purposes. If you require a connection monitoring service, please contact us using the information at the bottom of the page.

Q: Are there other free methods to quickly generate QR codes from Excel?

A: You can use a third-party image generator with the IMAGE function. Here's an overview of how to do it:

  1. Enter the URLs in column A of your Excel file.
  2. In column B, enter =IMAGE("https://api.excelapi.org/other/qrcode?text=" & A1)
  3. Press Enter, and an image will appear in column B.
  4. Drag down to automatically generate QR code images for the URLs in A1, A2, etc.

Disadvantages:

  • The IMAGE function is not supported in all versions of Microsoft Office. It's not available in Office 2017 or 2019; you need a paid Office 365 subscription or to use the online version at office.com (OneDrive workbook).
  • The image generation URL uses a third-party service like ExcelAPI. ExcelAPI has a daily free quota, and you can't use it once you exceed it. If the service disappears or becomes unavailable, you'll have to find an alternative. For example, some online tutorials mention "chart.googleapis.com", but that service has been discontinued.

If you use Google Docs, it also has an IMAGE function. You can also go to Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons, search for "QRCode", and find some batch QR code generation tools.
